Understanding the Early Years - Making Red Deer a Child and Youth Friendly City
(A supplement to the "Child and Youth Friendly Red Deer" report and appendices published June 2, 2008 by the Leadership Networks Team)

Thank you for your interest in reviewing these documents done in exploration of a Child and Youth Friendly (CYF) status for the community of Red Deer.

As co-sponsors of the project, we would like to gratefully acknowledge the hard work of the Leadership Centre team. The exploration work that they have done has been invaluable. Their research and presentations have created an interest in this concept for our community.

As the results reflect the opinions of 118 survey respondents and children/youth in three focus groups, we feel it's important to use caution in drawing conclusions Having said this, the report and appendices especially contain some excellent suggestions to enhance our community and it is well worth a read.

We are in the process of setting up a working group to continue exploring the possibilities of CYF. If, after reading the report, you would like to play a role in furthering Child and Youth Friendly status for Red Deer, please feel free to contact either of us at our numbers below.
