Programs - Seniors - Adult Day Program

Adult Day Program - Red Deer
(Supported by Alberta Health Services, Bethany Collegeside and First Christian Reformed Church)

The Adult Day Program is an activity group for people with memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer's disease. The program is offered 3 days per week providing much needed respite for the caregiver. Clients are living in their own home or their caregiver's home and are not in an institution or a long term care facility. Admission is based on a designated supportive living assessment by home care or a senior's resource nurse.

Each person joins at their own comfort level by participating in activities that:

- Focus on abilities and strengths
- Enhance mind, body and spirit
- Promote fun, enjoyment and socialization in a relaxed atmosphere

Note: Full day attendance is not required. Participants may join anytime.

How the process works

Step 1 - Assessment and Referral

Referrals are accepted year round. Please call the program manager of the Adult Day Program at 403-343-6400. The manager will come to your home and complete an assessment and intake to gather more information. If you are a home care client, permission will be asked to speak with your home care coordinator to obtain your designated supportive living assessment.

Step 2 - Come to the program

Previous discussion with the program manager will help determine how many days per week are suitable. We will try our best to accommodate your needs but this will depend on space available in the program on the different days. The caregiver may attend a day at the Adult Day Program with your loved one to ensure that all are comfortable.

For more program information, please call FSCA at 403-343-6400.
