Building Incredible Babies (BIB) - Information for Parents
Before your baby is born, an Outreach Worker can provide you with information and support to help you have a healthy baby and get ready to be a parent. This includes:
- Information on healthy eating while pregnant
- Prenatal information
- Monthly home visits from your Outreach Worker
- Information about healthy living
- Referrals to other places in the community that can help you and
- Any other need that you ask for help with
After your baby is born, your Outreach Worker will continue to support you as a new parent until your baby is 4 months old. Monthly visits will continue and the focus will now be:
- Breastfeeding information and support
- Post natal information including caring for your new baby and caring for yourself
- Referrals to other places in the community that can help you
- Early parenting information and resources and
- Any other need that you ask for help with
2. What services are offered?
- Trained Outreach Workers provide information and support in your home and encourage healthy lifestyle choices
- Babies are screened for developmental milestones at 4 months of age
- Access to our Agency Toy Lending Library
- Education Groups twice a month with childcare provided and help with transportation to and from the groups
- Food coupons to those parents who need help
- Prenatal vitamin coupons and vitamin D drops for breastfed babies
3. How will the Building Incredible Babies Program help me?
Being in the program will help you:
- Identify your family needs
- Help you learn more about pregnancy and early parenting
- Support you to be healthy and to have a healthy baby
- Connect you to a Registered Dietician for help with healthy eating
- Learn about Healthy Families Home Visitation Program
4. How much does Building Incredible Babies cost?
Being in the program is free.
5. Does my Doctor need to know that I want to be involved in Building Incredible Babies?
No, but with your permission, your Doctor will receive a letter from your Outreach Worker saying that you are in the BIB program.
